Merchant Guide

This guide is for store owners. Learn how to discover, install, manage, and review apps from the Mercentia Marketplace.

Finding Apps

  1. Visit the Mercentia Marketplace
  2. Browse by category (Shipping, Marketing, Analytics, etc.) or use the search bar
  3. Filter by pricing (Free, Freemium, Paid), compliance badges, and sort by popularity or rating
  4. Click on an app to view its full details, features, pricing plans, and reviews

Installing an App

Free Apps

  1. Click "Install App — Free" on the app detail page
  2. Review the permissions the app requests (what store data it can access)
  3. Click "Approve & Install"
  4. The app appears in your Dashboard under Apps

Paid Apps

  1. Click "Subscribe" or "Start Free Trial"
  2. Select a pricing plan that fits your needs
  3. Enter payment details on the secure checkout page
  4. Review the permissions and billing terms
  5. Complete payment — the app activates immediately
  6. If the app offers a free trial, you won't be charged until the trial ends
Security: Payments are processed by Stripe. Mercentia never stores your card details. All transactions are PCI DSS 4.0 compliant.

Managing Installed Apps

Go to your Mercentia Dashboard → Apps to see all installed apps.

What You Can Do

  • View app details — see what the app does and what data it accesses
  • Open app settings — configure the app (if it has a settings page)
  • View permissions — see exactly what store data the app can read/write
  • Manage subscription — upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan
  • Uninstall — remove the app and revoke all access

Built-in Apps

Some apps are built into Mercentia and cannot be uninstalled. These are marked with a "Core" badge and include essential features like Payments (Stripe), Email (Resend), Shipping, Search, and Authentication.

Uninstalling an App

  1. Go to Dashboard → Apps
  2. Click the "Uninstall" button on the app you want to remove
  3. Confirm the uninstallation
  4. The app's access to your store is revoked immediately
  5. If the app has a paid subscription, it will be cancelled
  6. If within the current billing period, access continues until the period ends
Data cleanup: When you uninstall an app, it must remove all modifications it made to your store (scripts, widgets, webhooks). If you notice residual changes after uninstalling, contact support.

Subscriptions & Billing

  • All app billing is handled by Mercentia — you see charges on your Mercentia invoice
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month (or year, depending on the plan)
  • You can cancel anytime from your Dashboard — access continues until the current period ends
  • Refund requests can be made within 30 days of purchase via Support
  • Free trial apps convert to paid automatically — you'll get a reminder 3 days before

Reviewing Apps

After using an app, you can leave a review to help other merchants:

  1. Go to the app's detail page on the Marketplace
  2. Click "Write a Review" (you must have the app installed)
  3. Rate from 1-5 stars
  4. Write a brief description of your experience
  5. Submit — your review appears publicly after a brief moderation check

App developers can reply to reviews. Reviews help the community and influence app rankings.

Permissions Explained

When installing an app, you'll see a list of permissions it requests. Here's what each means:

PermissionWhat the App Can Do
Read ProductsView your product catalog, prices, images
Write ProductsCreate, edit, or delete products
Read OrdersView order details, status, payment info
Write OrdersUpdate orders, create draft orders, add notes
Read CustomersView customer profiles and addresses
Write CustomersCreate or modify customer records
Read AnalyticsView your sales data and reports
Read/Write InventoryView or adjust stock levels
Read/Write ShippingView or create shipping labels and tracking
Manage CheckoutsAdd fields or modify the checkout flow
Manage FulfillmentsMark orders as shipped, add tracking
Only install apps you trust. Every app on the marketplace has been reviewed for security and compliance, but you should still check the developer's reputation, reviews, and the specific permissions before installing.

Reporting Issues

If you experience problems with an app:

  1. Contact the developer first — use the support email on the app's detail page
  2. Leave a review — describe the issue so other merchants are informed
  3. Report to Mercentia — if the issue involves security, privacy, or policy violations, contact Mercentia Support and we'll investigate

Mercentia can emergency-delist apps that pose security risks to merchant stores.

Your Data Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations, you have the right to:

  • Know what data apps access and how they use it
  • Delete your data from any app by uninstalling it
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format (request via app's support)
  • Restrict data processing by uninstalling or contacting the developer
  • Object to data usage beyond the app's stated purpose

All apps must comply with these rights. Non-compliant apps are removed from the marketplace.
